Sigma Beauty -- New Arrivals

Hey Ramblers

How are you all doing? :)

Firstly I would like to say, "HAJJ MUBARAK to all the people who were lucky enough to go this year". A very happy Eid Mubarak to everyone else. :D

I was just surfing through emails and the internet and I stumbled upon the Sigma Beauty website. Then I realized it has been really long since I posted anything about them. Do you know in the past couple of months they have released a Beauty Expert - Brow Design Kit?

If you guys follow trends, you would know that thick, luscious brows are the fashion trend for fall 2012. So this release would be ideal for all of you who do their beauty regime. It has practically everything required to make the perfect brows; tweezers, scissors, eye-brow shapes stencil, pencils, brushes, brow shadows, sharpener, etc. Now I won't be posting all the pictures. Just the main picture. Rest you can check here.
Recently I was wondering who decides the fashion and make-up trends? Do all the designers, brands and marketing companies sit together and discuss before working on the collections? Because seriously, the trend is just spreading out and they are already releasing the related stuff. May be a big strategy behind it all. LoL. But that is straying from the topic. Maybe I will ramble about it later.
Now apart from the Brow design kit the new items which attract me are the Extravaganza Face Kit and the Extravaganza Complete Kit. They look soooo luxurious and gorgeous that I want them!! The top of my wishlist.

Aren't they tempting?? The Extravaganza Face Kit contains four essential luxurious brushes while the Extravaganza Complete Kit contains 29 of Sigma Beauty's best selling brushes. Everything you can possibly require. To check more pics, price and other details for face kit you can go here and for complete kit here.
If you want to check out other stuff in new arrivals, you can go here. There are also some really cute mirrors and make-up bags on sale on the website. To check them out you can go here.
Unfortunately they are way way too expensive (at least for me when I convert the currency, plus the additional custom taxes and delivery would make it almost double the price.. May be someday.. *winks*
What about you guys? Are you into make-up and stuff? Do let me know. :)
Until next time.
A Bientôt‎~
p.s. New discount 10% coupon on the image of Sigma Beauty in the top left hand corner of the page in case you want to splurge. *winks*

Special Celebration Days

Hey Ramblers,

Hope you all are doing good..

Am back with a new rambling.. Its been too long.. *wink*

Today I want to go on and on about the various special days we seem to celebrate like Mother's Day, Father's Day, Valentine's Day, Earth Day etc etc.. It seems every year a couple of new days are being introduced or maybe that is the case on my side of the world and they already exist in the west for way long ago (by west I mean U.S, U.K etc)..
Now why in the world is that???!!!!!!!??? What is wrong with us??

Why am I going on about this simple celebration day??

Well I think its just wrong that we chose a specific day for every relationship or feeling. Why do we need to bound ourselves to a specific day to tell our feelings of how much we love someone or care for someone?? Just because someone ages ago did due to some sad event in their lives??

For example Mother's Day came into being when Anna Jarvis held a 'memorial' for her mother and wanted it to be a recognized holiday.. Well she got her wish but did she like the fact of how it is commercialized by the media?? Not only that, she also wished this to be specific Mother's (notice the spelling) day that is singular, meaning just your mother's day not mothers all over the world.. But what happens?? Various countries have adopted it for their own commercial reasons with their own interpretations.. Does it keep the original idea or values?? NO..

Then again, Fathers' Day came into being when a Mrs. Grace Golden Clayton decided to celebrate life of the fathers who were lost in 'Monongah Mining Disaster'. Again, it was due to a sad event and this time the lady wanted it to be collective Fathers' Day not singular like Mother's. The same way like before, this is now also a widely commercialized day, interpreted differently by every country.

What about the most famous, Valentine's Day?? Do you know, there are no historical facts connecting Saint Valentine to romance?? Instead christian martyrs were known as Valentines.. Somehow, somewhere in history, someone related Saint Valentine to romance and started the celebrations of declaration of love day.. So technically we are celebrating martyrs days where we declare love for each other..

From the likes of this, if someone comes up with new innovative concept and markets properly, it seems there will come a time that we will be celebrating a death day and mourning day too.. Or even select specifici days in a month for us to laugh, cry, have fun etc..

Someone once told me that the reason so many days are being celebrated is that the life has become very fast paced nowadays and families are being driven further apart.. Parents, children and siblings hardly have time to connect or talk to each other for months at a time.. The concept of children living with parents is gone from the west and slowly being finished in other parts of the world too.. Old parents are either living alone or sent to retirement homes.. So these people need a day they can 'try' (emphasis on this word) to make up for the rest of the year's neglect and ignorance and ofcourse take out time to express 'loveeeeee' (sarcasm intended).. Seems to be true to me.. The media ofcourse has a field day exploiting this and making chunks of money.. What more do they want??

I sometimes wonder what will happen if one day every one decides not to specifically celebrate this day and ignore the media hiatus but do it randomly throughout the year.. What will the media come up with next to convince us?? Of course special deals and discount make it difficult to make this decision..

One thing I love about my country, my people and my society is the closeness.. Everyone has bitchy days (who doesn't) and everyone fights.. But we all care too.. There is rarely any daughter who does not talk to her parents at least once a week if not every day (meet too if they are in the same city) or son who does not want to live with his parents and support them unless absolutely necessary.. Not that I am happy all the time living with in-laws.. There are loads of issues but then what comes to mind is.. They also kept us, raised us and supported us whether they wanted to or not.. Sadly though, I am now seeing this disappearing too mostly inspired by the shows on television..

I for one cannot spend the day without talking with my mom even if it is for a minute.. I go nuts and miss her like crazy when we don't.. Go ahead.. Call me mama's baby.. *wink*  I love her, my dad, my siblings, my hubby a lot and tell them whenever I can.. I don't need these things to prove to the world I love them by keeping statuses on social networks, sending gifts publicly or saying it loudly in front of everyone.. They know I love them, I know they love me in the little things they do.. That is enough for me.. ^_^

Now by all this rambling I do not in any way want to offend you people and I know its not necessary that people on the other side of the world are like this or that we ourselves are so lovey dovey that we are one big family (like shown on some shows).. But what do you guys think?? Am I really wrong in my thinking and observation?? Are we being exploited by the media and the governments or what??

Though the truth is, I, myself am vulnerable to the television and advertisements.. It takes a lot of will power not to be tempted to have those things the way they show it but it totally proves our susceptibility to such things therefore being open to exploitation.

I do not think any religion anywhere in the world says that you only show love on one specific day or not keep your parents with you when they are old and unable to help themselves no matter how busy you are.. In fact every religion, one way or another says do as much as you can for your parents in their old age and you will be rewarded (so why not for this greed if nothing else?).

Think about it and let me know.. More, correct me if I am wrong but with examples.. *wink*

*whoosh* Am tired after this rambling..

See you around..

Have a thinking day..  ^_^

p.s. For some reason am having problems with editing fonts and stuff in the last two posts.. really annoying.. Anyone having similar issues??

Book Review: Perfect Rake by Anne Gracie

Hey ramblers,

How many of you out there love to read books?

I for one am addicted to them. They are my boon for sanity. Fiction books mostly but when my mood strikes, non-fiction too but that happens very rarely. Anyway, last year I came across this author Anne Gracie by fluke. The blurb I read fascinated me so much that I went on the book hunt and finally got hold of the Perfect Rake. It was such a fun read that I fell in love with it laughing throughout. The hero is a 'Perfect' rake. This a not to be missed book so I wrote a small review about it.

Okay I'll be honest. I wrote this review as a trial to become a part of COFFEE TIME ROMANCE & More staff as a reviewer and guess what.. It got me in! :) I am officially a reviewer there. :D

But the point is, I love this book soo much that I had to share it with you all too. So if you guys like it, go out, buy it and read the whole book. I would give this the highest rating there is. The review is as follows:

This is the first book in the series about Merridew sisters who were sent to live with their fanatic grandfather after their parents died. Prudence Merridew is the eldest sister who would do anything to get them away from his brutality and is waiting for her 21st birthday to get the guardianship. But an event and accident leaving their grandfather invalid for some period gives her an excellent opportunity even come up with an elaborate and extremely risky plan for escape a couple of months before her birthday. This plan goes awry when she is being forced to have the season first (because she is very plain compared to her sisters who are referred to as the 'diamonds of first water') and to get out of it so that her sisters get the chance, she claims to be secretly engaged to the Duke of Dinstable, who is a known recluse and not entered the society for past 10 years. Unfortunately he has come back and to convince him she goes to his place and mistakenly assumes Gideon is the duke. How she gets out of the situation and how Gideon plans on helping her is where the story gets interesting.

I just love love love this book. It is so refreshing from the typical romantic heros we get to read normally. Gideon is your very unusual and very non-serious hero who takes your heart away with his charm and actions. The interaction between him and Prudence is utterly delightful and invigorating though I believe whenever he enters the scene, he just takes it away. Prudence is more then his match in wits and what he sees in her makes us fall in love with her too. I appreciate the way Anne Gracie has included the secondary characters who are delightful individuals with strong personalities but complement Gideon and Prudence in such a way that they won't take the attention away from those two. Theirs is a refreshing love story filled with laughter, hope and never ending support of loved ones. This is a definate keeper which I would read again and again for a touch of joy in life and to be very honest, I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series just to read a bit more about Prudence, Gideon and little Grace.

The following are the book details for your ease to go out and buy it if it is still in print.

Title: THE PERFECT RAKE
Author: ANNE GRACIE
ISBN# 0-425-20395-6
July 2005
Paperback
Price: $7.99

If any of you have already read it, I would love to hear how you found the book. Do you agree or disagree with my assessment?

Have a great day you all.

Women Politics

Hey ramblers,

Hope you are all well. Whoever and wherever you are. LoL.

I have an interesting topic today. Women politics. A couple of months ago, an acquaintance of mine put up a status stating that she was shocked at the dirty politics, some women were playing at. To which I asked her if everything was okay and what happened. The reply I got was that, nothing much, some women play very dirty politics which shocked her. Okay I got that. So I just said that thank God I never had a chance to face such an issue with women or men. Just a statement thanking God. Now this lady knows I don't work anywhere. So she simply replied that you will only face it when you do a job.

Now the question from this arises is... Really? I mean really that is the best answer she could come up with? That I would only face such an issue if I do a job. That sounded more like a jab at my staying at home and not working. But I may be wrong and her intentions might be clear but then again... Really? *raising an eyebrow*

What I initially thought to her statement was maybe some friend was playing dirty politics or maybe someone in the in-laws. And that is exactly what I meant when I made the statement of thanking God. I have heard other people complaining too and at times in school and college life about dirty politics. Because in my limited experience, we only find dirty politics is if someone we trusted or least expect from, does it. I am not saying that I have not experienced it at all but never an outright vicious attack like the one she was implying in her status. Many of you might disagree but for arguments sake, are you really saying that not one of you has faced this problem apart from a work place? This goes for men and women both though the focus at the moment is women politics.

It is funny though. I know we women can be very bitchy and can play very dirty. Even worse then men. But hey, in this career driven men's ambitious world, we have to make use of all the weapons we can and some do it more then the others. ;) In private life though its a different story. How many of you have come across games and dirty politics with some one in your in-laws or very close family? How many of you were a victim of these same politics in school and college life? How did you get to overcome it?

I would love to hear your opinion and maybe by mutual sharing we can also come with new ideas to avoid it or overcome it in our personal lives. For the time being am allowing anonymous comments in case you want to tell the story without giving up your name. ;)

Take care ya all!
C'est la vie

Domestic Engineer

Hello fellow ramblers,

This blog is not a teaching lesson. Its just me random rambling about everything and nothing. And since I may twist the words to my convenience, it may sound non-sense and totally change the meaning of the word but still its my head, my world and my non-sense. You will not only find ramblings in my topics but in the text itself too. ;)

For my very first post I would like to talk about "what is a domestic engineer?" and why I chose to start the ramblings.

Usually after we get married (we as in girls/women), we are given an option of either being a stay-at-home wife in other words a house-wife or become a working lady i.e. continue building your career if you have one or start one. That is either dependent on us or our in-laws.

In present times, I agree that since the price and cost of living is very high all around the world. It is difficult for a lower or middle class families to solely survive on the man's income, but if its not necessary and so far we can make-do with that income only and survive, choosing to stay home with college education is becoming a social stigma. At least here in Pakistan. I can not say it for any other country or individual. Just my personal experience in my 4 years of marriage.

People ask me what have I done (i.e. education) and then they ask me what am I doing nowadays (i.e. after marriage) and then they find it totally inconceivable that I am a stay at home wife without kids! I mean fine I am staying at home 24/7, may it be out of necessity or choice but its none of their business. I am choosing to stay at home and make my house a comfortable place to stay in for my family but that does not mean it hasn't got its perks and handicaps. The correct term for a stay at-home wife (or house wife) should be a domestic engineer. We have to run the house, make things comfortable for everyone and that they run smoothly. When the kids come along they're the part of the package too. I can not see a husband making a house very comfortable along with doing a job or the in-laws doing as much for the kids and our home as we would.

Though when asked, I don't say any of this to the people because it is pretty much pointless wasting my energy and strength arguing animatedly with them when they're stuck to their opinions and I am to mine (plus it creates an uncomfortable atmosphere with people we have to interact with a lot therefore better to avoid). I know I know many of you would also disagree with my sentiments but as its my ramblings, I have the right to speak up if not verbally then through writing.

These questions, life at home etc has brought me to a boiling point at the tip of frustration and desperation therefore I had to start a blog to let it all out and here I am. Please bear with me and my randomness.

Okay.. For my first post that was enough non-sense.. I wouldn't mind hearing opinions are long as they are not abusive..

Hope to hear from at least some of you.. Hehehehe..
Lets See.

Take Care
